1 person dead, another missing after snowmachining into open water on Kuskokwim River
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Bethel Search and Rescue responded to a report of two snowmachiners that had driven into a hole in the ice on the Kuskokwim River on Saturday at 9:20 a.m., according to a report by the Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers say Bethel Search and Rescue heard from residents of Tuluksak who saw two snowmachiners drive into open water on Friday around 7:35 p.m.
On Monday, AST reported two snowmachines and one body had been recovered from the Kuskokwim River at the spot where the two were seen driving into the hole in the ice.
Troopers are still searching for the second person.
