ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Alaska State Troopers say a man in Fairbanks died in a cabin fire early Tuesday morning in the area of McGrath Road North of Flapjack Road.
Troopers say around 2 a.m., the Steese Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports of a fire. Once on scene, they found a second cabin “fully engulfed” in flames and were told that the cabin was likely occupied by an adult male.
Crews put out the flames and later found human remains.
AST says a Department of Public Safety Deputy Fire Marshal from Fairbanks is investigating the origin of the fire but does not believe there was foul play.
Troopers have not released the name of the man who died in the fire.
