Man arrested, charged in Mountain View shooting incident
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Anchorage police have arrested a 19-year-old man in the investigation of a shooting that took place Tuesday in the Mountain View neighborhood of Anchorage.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired on North Hoyt Street shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday. According to a Wednesday release from the Anchorage Police Department, officers have arrested Anchorage resident Hayden McDonald in connection with the incident. He faces charges of first-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault, first-degree misconduct involving a weapon, third-degree misconduct involving a weapon and reckless endangerment.
One person was injured in the incident and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. According to the release, officers found a man who had been shot in his lower body when they arrived on the scene.
Initial investigation indicates that the incident took place outside a home on North Hoyt Street, according to APD. They wrote that McDonald was identified as a suspect after detectives questioned witnesses on the scene. He had left the scene in a vehicle but was later contacted and questioned by APD.
McDonald was remanded to the Anchorage jail on an existing warrant, according to the release, and was then charged with the additional counts.
