Alaska governor urges lawmakers to act on dividend plan

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy is urging lawmakers to act on his proposal to place in the state constitution a new formula for the annual check residents receive from Alaska’s oil-wealth fund.

Lawmakers are in a special session with the state budget and Dunleavy’s dividend plan on the agenda.

Some legislators have raised questions about some of the administration’s modeling assumptions and concerns with tackling the dividend issue without other pieces of a possible fiscal plan.

Dunleavy says legislators are free to come forward with their own ideas. He also says revenue is a topic for another special session, set for August.
