ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - In this week’s Weather Lab, Chief Meteorologist Melissa Frey visited Airport Heights Elementary School in Anchorage.

Inside the Weather Lab, they learned about the extreme weather we see in Alaska like blizzards, flooding, and dangerous wind storms. They also learned why we don’t see other types of severe weather like large tornadoes and hurricanes this far north.

Melissa was lucky enough to be at Airport Heights on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, giving her a chance to read her favorite rhyming book about weather with the students.

You can watch the complete weather lab series here.
