Charlie Sokaitis

Morning Edition News Anchor
ANCHORAGE, AK
Charlie Sokaitis

Every weekday from 5am-7am you'll find Charlie Sokaitis on the KTUU desk anchoring the Morning Edition alongside co-anchor Ariane Aramburo and meteorologist Howie Gordon.

A veteran of the news industry Charlie has been on air since graduating from the University of Alaska Fairbanks back in 2004. Working at various stations around the state of Alaska he began his career as a sports anchor which is how he eventually earned his first gig at KTUU. In 2015 he would leave the state to take a job for the local NBC station in Green Bay Wisconsin where he was in the Packers locker room nearly five days a week. When he decided to make the change from sports to news in 2019 it only made sense to return to KTUU which he considers to be one of the great story telling stations of it's size anywhere in the country.

When he's off the clock Charlie likes to spend his time showing off the state to his fiance Leah who moved to Alaska from Wisconsin. The two particularly enjoy getting out of Anchorage a bit visiting Seward, Fairbanks, and most often Talkeetna.

Though he wasn't born in the 49th state Charlie does consider Alaska home. The son of a college basketball coach, Al Sokaitis, Charlie moved a lot growing up, he has lived in seven different states, but he has spent more time in Alaska than the other six states combined.
