Robert Forgit

Robert Forgit has been an accomplished broadcast meteorologist and reporter in Anchorage, Alaska with KTUU since 1993.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. He has earned his Television Seals of Approval from both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. He is also a graduate of the Harvard National Preparedness Leadership Initiative Program in 2010. In the past, Robert has produced two award-winning weekly science series "Science 2" and a summer boating safety series "Safety Afloat”.

With over 20 years behind and in front of cameras, Robert has a colorful background in the entertainment industry. He is a member of Actors Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild. He was theatrically trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre under Sanford Miesner and performed in numerous stage performances, including Off-Broadway productions of the "New Moon" and "Mikado." His television credits include appearances on "Magnum P.I." and "Kojak." As a professional actor, Robert has appeared in the movies, “The Big Miracle” and most recently, “The Frozen Ground” as Sgt. Wayne Von Clasen both filmed in Alaska.

As a Captain in the Coast Guard Reserve, Robert recently retired after more than a 30 years of service. He has over 25 years of experience in emergency management, oil spill response and homeland and maritime security programs.

Robert and his wife, Lanara, are long time Alaskans and enjoy the outdoors including sailing, hiking, kayaking, swimming, mountain biking and racing.
