Martin Staunton

Martin Staunton was born in Rockland County, New York before moving to Fayette County, West Virginia, where he finished middle and high school.

After graduating high school and enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves, he spent a year at West Virginia University before moving back to New York City to pursue an acting career.

Martin moved back to the Mountain State beginning his broadcast career as a radio disc jockey at WWNR-AM in Beckley, West Virginia.

He transitioned to broadcast journalism as the evening news producer with WOAY-TV.

Martin transitioned from behind the scenes to on-air reporting before moving to WCHS-TV in Charleston, where he worked as weekend anchor/news manager.

Martin moved to WOWK-TV, where he worked as a general assignment reporter, which included an embed assignment with WV Air National Guard in Afghanistan.

Martin moved back to southern West Virginia, after accepting the evening news anchor position with WVNS-TV.

He was widowed after 25 years of marriage and then moved to Savannah, Georgia after accepting a general assignment reporter position with WSAV-TV.

Martin returned to southern West Virginia after joining WVVA-TV as the evening news anchor.

Staunton is a father to two daughters, two sons, and has a grandson.

He's an avid golfer and enjoys skiing, swimming, and the outdoors.
