A lifelong Alaskan, Patrick was quick to return home in May 2015 to begin his career in journalism, after his graduation from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
Growing up in Alaska, Patrick enjoyed playing baseball at South Anchorage High School (go Wolverines!), hiking, fishing and countless adventures that are synonymous with being raised in the 49th state.
He says his career in broadcast journalism almost ended before it began after a disagreement with a teacher caused him to leave his junior high school's news program. Luckily, he says, the spark that first led him to enroll in that program as a teen was rekindled again in college.
Deciding to pursue a degree in broadcast journalism, Patrick took on reporter and anchor roles at CTV, the campus news station. CTV provided a unique opportunity to cover a wide variety of stories, including the 2014 Colorado election, First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit to Fort Collins and the Colorado State 2014 football season. Patrick made his commitment to journalism a priority, even during the summer months of his junior year at CSU. He took on a summer internship at KTUU, gaining field experience working alongside experienced reporters and photojournalists. Patrick completed an additional internship in Denver at KDVR FOX 31 during his final semester of college. He is also a member of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Patrick says working for Alaska's News Source is a dream come true, having grown up watching KTUU every evening with family before dinner. After working as a news reporter and producer, Patrick took on the role of Sports Director for several years. In May 2022, Patrick became the 4p News Anchor/Multimedia Journalist at Alaska's News Source.
