The Anchorage Police Department says ten people required medical attention for high levels of intoxication after drinking at the Williwaw bar Sunday.

The bar was hosting a concert that night. The Anchorage Fire Department says four people needed to be transported to a hospital for "heavy intoxication levels."

APD Spokesperson Jennifer Castro says hospitals contacted police after multiple patients who had been drinking at Williwaw came back with blood alcohol contents higher than .3. Castro says one person had a BAC of nearly .5, a near fatal amount.

"There was some speculation by some that attended that maybe people had roofies in their drinks or something of that nature but then again that would not explain the high levels of alcohol in their system," says Castro.

APD says it notified the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, the group that licenses establishments in Alaska, about the situation.

Channel 2 spoke with Williwaw spokesperson Pete Burns but he declined to comment other than saying, "We are cooperating with both agencies, APD and the ABC Board."
