A former treasurer for a local youth hockey organization is accused of stealing $180,000 to pay off personal bills.

The Anchorage Police Department says it received a report on June 19 that money had been stolen from the Mustang Hockey Association's general account.

According to APD, a member of the association was reviewing the bank records and noticed several cash withdrawals that should not have taken place. The member then discovered the association's treasurer, Jennifer Suchan, 33, had allegedly been withdrawing cash and cashing unauthorized checks from the account for quite some time. The thefts reportedly took place between August 2015 and June 2017.

Suchan was taken to the Anchorage Jail on Monday.

She is charged with felonies for theft and scheme to defraud.
