2-year-old dies inside burning car after it caught fire in Wasilla

Thursday afternoon in Wasilla, a fire broke out inside a vehicle near Waldal Drive. A 2-year-old child was inside the car before it caught fire and did not escape.

Officers arrived around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, according to a dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers. However, the child was already deceased by that time.

Family members say they desperately tried to save they child but were unable to get inside the car.

KTUU has reached out to AST for further information. No foul play is suspected. The State Fire Marshall is continuing the investigation.
