Suspects arrested after fatal overdose in Sand Point
Sand Point Police said they were unable to save a 26-year-old female who was found unresponsive near the New Trident Gear Shed on Sept. 1. Police say they arrived to find a woman unresponsive form a suspected overdose.
The day before, police responded to a different report of an unresponsive male. On arrival, emergency medical services administered lifesaving efforts and transported the patient to the Sand Point Clinic. The efforts proved successful.
Police quickly linked the two cases to 30 milligram pills of counterfeit Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills that were believed to be contaminated with Fentanyl and arrested two people suspected of distributing them.
They are 37-year-old Jeremy Krone and 44-year-old Michael Gunderson, both of Sand Point, and both of whom were charged with manslaughter and 2nd Degree Misconduct.
Police are warning residents that there may be more counterfeit pills out there and that anybody who has them should not take them. They are small blue pills.
