Police name 5-year-old victim in deadly accidental shooting

The Anchorage Police Department has identified the 5-year-old

in West Anchorage Friday evening as Amonzel Binion.

Police say the boy was under the care of a babysitter when he "retrieved a loaded handgun, and inadvertently shot himself in the upper body."

Renee Oistad, a spokesperson for the department, wrote in an email to Channel 2 that "a charging decision has not yet been made" in the case.
