A 5.2 magnitude earthquake was felt widely across Southcentral Alaska Saturday evening.

In a tweet, the Alaska Earthquake Center described the shaker as a “typical slab event” that occurred at 8:25 p.m. The epicenter was located about 10 miles North of Ninilchik.

“We have felt reports from as far away as Talkeetna and Valdez so far,” the Earthquake Center said.

The National Tsunami Warning Center says a tsunami is not expected. The earthquake struck at a depth of about 40 miles.
