This ordinance would change the city charter, which requires a vote of the people. Before their vote Tuesday night, Anchorage Assembly members held a work session on changes they are looking to make to the measure.
The state of Alaska continues to report large numbers of additional COVID-19 cases as hospitalizations also continue to climb. The state health department reported an additional 21 COVID-19-related deaths on Monday as well.
Executive Director for the Center of Economic Development at the University of Alaska Anchorage Nolan Klouda said that with a job market still tight this winter, the hospitality industry could be seeing a sequel this summer.
