AFD: multiple cars damaged by vehicle fire in Tikahtnu commons parking lot

A vehicle fire damages three cars in a parking lot at a popular Anchorage shopping center.

"We pulled two lines and we were able to hit it from a couple different sides that way and the fire was spreading to different vehicles, but we were able to contain it," Captain Casey Johnson with the Anchorage fire department said.

AFD said the flames may have started as a mechanical failure in one vehicle parked at Tikahtnu commons Saturday afternoon.

They say the owner was able to get out of the vehicle before being exposed to smoke.

Firefighters say multiple calls came in about the fire and other than a few scorched cars no injuries were reported.
