12/5 10:25 p.m. Update:

One man has been taken into custody without incident, per APD. Officers ask that people remain clear of the area for a short time as they conduct their investigation.

12/5 9:15 p.m. Update:

Anchorage Police and SWAT units are evacuating the East Anchorage building in which a man - who fired shots out of the residence - remains barricaded.

Nora Morse of the Anchorage Police Dept. said at the time that no injuries have been reported.

Original Story:

Anchorage police have sealed off the area near an East Anchorage apartment complex because of reports of a man shooting from an apartment window.

APD says at 5:39 p.m., police responded to the 1700-block of Russian Jack Drive regarding a male firing shots out of the windows of his home. A police department press release said officers have been trying to make verbal contact with the suspect, but have been unable to so far.

APD said while they believe the male is alone inside, they do not yet have confirmation of that. There are no reports of injuries.

APD said a SWAT call-out has been initiated and officers are in the process of obtaining a search warrant.

The 1700-block of Russian Jack was shut down. APD requested that both motorists and pedestrians avoid the area.
