Update - Dec. 4, 2017, 1:24 p.m.:

Anchorage police have released new information, regarding the shooting that left one person dead late Saturday night.

According to a news release issued by APD, a group of people "got into an altercation," and at some time during that event, a young man was shot and killed.

The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Brandon Irlmeier, police say. As for who shot him, that is not clear.

APD's Deputy Chief Ken McCoy said that two men were initially found in the bottom of a stairwell. One, later identified as Irlmeier, had been shot.

Police said they arrested the other man, 21-year-old Orion Lind, after initially being questioned regarding the shooting.

Lind was arrested on an unrelated warrant, reported McCoy. Moreover, he has not been charged in the homicide investigation.

"This is not a random incident – it’s isolated," APD spokesperson MJ Thim said in a statement.

This is a developing story, and will be updated when more information is released.
