Alaska State Troopers investigate homicide in Manokotak
A man is dead and another charged with Murder 2 in Manokotak. Alaska State Troopers were called to the village around 11:15 a.m. Saturday, according to an online dispatch.
AST says severe weather conditions prevented troopers from getting to the village, and the victim from being airlifted to the hospital. Later that evening, the victim died from his injuries.
When the weather settled down, troopers were able to fly to Manokotak Sunday to investigate, landing around 10:20 a.m. As a result of the investigation, troopers arrested 54-year-old Dick Itumulria of Manokotak for allegedly causing injuries that led to the victim's death.
Itumulria was taken to the Dillingham Jail where he was held without bail, on a charge of Murder 2.
