Wednesday night, a call came in to the Bethel Police Department, reporting that a man was bleeding at a home. Later that night, he was declared dead.
In a Thursday update from BPD, officials identified the victim as David Carl, 65, of Bethel. They also said a suspect has been identified in the case.
Police say that the investigation is ongoing, and did not say how Carl died. However, BPD said in a statement that foul play is suspected.
The incident happened at 105 Atsaq Street in Bethel just before 10 p.m. on March 20. BPD said that, after responding, Carl was taken to the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Center.
That's where police say he was pronounced dead. His remains will be transported to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy in order to learn how he died.
Alaska Bureau of Investigation officers will reportedly travel to Bethel to assist BPD in the investigation.
