A driver in Fairbanks feared for his life Tuesday night, after another man allegedly jumped in the back of the truck wielding a sword.

Derek Harris, 26, of Fairbanks, was riding a longboard on the Old Steese Highway in Fairbanks, and brandishing the weapon, Alaska State Troopers reported.

Harris was headed in the direction of Farmers Loop, when he somehow got in the back of a truck heading there. That's when, AST says, he put the driver in fear of their life.

The truck stopped at the gas station at the intersection of Farmers Loop and the Steese Highway, and Harris allegedly "threatened the driver with the sword."

Harris was later arrested and charged with assault. AST says alcohol was a factor. The Fairbanks Police Department assisted in the arrest.
