Allegiant Airlines has officially touched down on their inaugural flight into Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
The discount airline flight landed Wednesday morning around 10:26 a.m.
"We're very excited to be here today to celebrate Allegiant Air's 122nd city, and a new state in our network,” said Michelle Cohen with Allegiant Air. “Thank you to everyone at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, and city officials for everything you did to help us get this route started.
Allegiant Airlines is the ninth-largest airline in the country, and their arrival brings another discount choice for Alaskans.
"I'm very excited because of the fact that we now have a new non-stop destination that's served out of Anchorage, which is really good for the tourism market,” said Jim Szczesniak with Ted Stevens International Airport. “Non-stop destinations draw tourism and increase the frequency of passengers we get from those markets."
The Bellingham flight will operate twice weekly, with round trips on Saturday and Wednesday. It will expand to four times per week on June 5, with round trips also offered on Thursday and Sunday.
