Anchorage fire fighter severely injured during training

On June 6, the Anchorage Fire Department identified Monday's injured firefighter as Ben Schultz, 28.
According to Deputy Chief of Operations Anchorage Fire Department, Jodie Hettrick, Schultz was injured on June 5 at approximately 4:15 p.m. during a training exercise incident.
AFD says Schultz is a firefighter-paramedic who has been with the department since 2011.
An Anchorage firefighter was severely injured during a training exercise Monday, according to the department.
According to an AFD Nixle, "fellow firefighters assisted and took the injured firefighter to a hospital."
The department did not release any details on the extent of injuries the person suffered, only saying, "further information will be available tomorrow [Tuesday] afternoon."
The department also asked to respect the family's "wish for privacy during this trying time."
