Anchorage man sentenced for giving alcohol to minors, leading to fatal 2014 crash
An Anchorage man was sentenced to prison on Friday for providing alcohol to a group of minors before they were involved in a fatal DUI car crash in 2014, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Anchorage police responded to the single-vehicle crash with three occupants just after 3:20 a.m. on the morning of Feb. 20, 2014.
“All occupants of the vehicle were under the age of 21 and were under the influence of alcohol,” prosecutors wrote in a Friday press release. “The driver of the vehicle died as a result of the collision and two other occupants suffered injuries and were treated at a local hospital.”
Investigators with APD’s traffic unit later determined that then-29 year-old Robert Lee Green III provided alcohol to the three occupants prior to the collision, prosecutors said.
Green was indicted in 2014 and was convicted by an Anchorage jury last year following a 7 day trial. Superior Court Judge Paul Olson on Friday handed down a sentence of two years with one year suspended as well as two years on felony probation, according to prosecutors.
