Police have arrested a man they believe assaulted a woman found unresponsive Thursday morning.

Police believe the incident of domestic violence began as a "physical altercation" between Bailey and the victim inside the apartment.

During the assault, the woman went unconscious and stopped breathing.

Original Story: 10:42 a.m.:

A woman was assaulted some time early Thursday morning, and now is in critical condition due to her injuries.

The woman was unresponsive in a home on the 1000 block of West 26th Avenue, according to a community alert from the Anchorage Police Department.

Police say she suffered "trauma to the upper body," but did not elaborate on what kind of injuries she had sustained.

Multiple other people were present at the home when the assault happened, APD said, and everyone there has been contacted and taken in for questioning by police.

Police administered first aid to the woman, who was found not breathing in the home. She was taken to a hospital with "life-threatening injuries."

APD said detectives think the case was isolated, and aren't looking for other suspects. No arrests have been made.
