The Bethel Police Department says a woman, who was first discovered lying in the snow Thursday has died.
According to a press release posted on the department’s Facebook page, a call came in shortly before 9 p.m. claiming two men were trying to start a snowmachine on the trail to Atmautluak.
The social media post states, Sandra Frye was lying in the snow near the trail.
Bethel Search and Rescuers were able to take Frye and the men to Bethel. Firefighters took Frye to the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation, where she later died, according to the release.
“The circumstances surrounding Ms. Frye’s death are under investigation,” the release states. Channel 2 News put in a call to request more information from the police department Saturday night, we were told the person we would need to speak to would not be available until Monday.
