Charlo Greene pleads guilty to single felony count

In the case of State of Alaska vs. Charlene Egbe —the former reporter turned marijuana entrepreneur known as Charlo Greene — pleaded guilty to a single felony count of misconduct involving a controlled substance on Monday.

Under the plea agreement, Egbe will pay a $10,000 fine and forfeit all items seized during the investigation. She will not serve any jail time or probation under the terms of the agreement.

The plea deal comes three years after the Alaska Cannabis Club was raided by Anchorage Police in 2015. Egbe, Alaska Cannabis Club's CEO, was accused of running a commercial marijuana business prior to the implementation of a voter-approved legal marijuana industry, after infamously quitting her television reporting job on live TV in 2014.

John Skidmore with the Alaska Department of Law says Egbe's guilty plea on the felony charge precludes her from working in Alaska's marijuana industry again.

A sentencing hearing has been set for Nov. 19, when a judge will either accept or reject the rule 11 plea agreement.

KTUU reached out to Greene for comment but did not hear back prior to deadline.
