A dead whale has washed up in Kincaid Park
A dead whale has washed up on a beach in Kincaid Park.
The whale is located 400 feet to the left of the Beach Trail. An official working for Kincaid Park says the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is aware of the whale and will barricade it on Monday.
The official wants to remind the public that it is illegal to take anything off the whale. The animal is endangered and people will be fined. ADF&G will place caution tape and warning signs around the whale. However, members of the public are allowed to come and take photos.
Last Saturday, a dead whale was spotted floating on the
by two hunters. Channel 2 has not been able to confirm whether they are the same whale.
In July 2016,
washed up near Hope, and then was moved by the tide to the beach near Kincaid Park.
Three thousand pounds of
were later airlifted to the University of Alaska Fairbanks for research.
