A gas station attendant in Anchorage was held under threat of violence, and forced to hand over an undisclosed amount of money early Wednesday morning.

Police responded, and set up a perimeter around the area to apprehend the suspected robber, according to an Anchorage Police Department dispatcher. The suspect eluded capture.

The gas station employee at the Tesoro on Abbott Road told Channel 2 that, sometime after 4 a.m., the alleged suspect entered the store and threatened with some kind of weapon. The exact weapon type was not disclosed.

At that point, the employee handed over an undisclosed amount of money, described as "a small amount," before the suspect took off.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
