The Kenai River and its runs of salmon keep the river crowded through the summer, but come Fall it's a different scene that offers anglers a chance a trophy trout.

"It's nice when you get out here and there's not a ton of boats. It seems like as the season goes on, a lot of the pictures I have dates on, the 30-inchers and the big fish, a lot of them are in November," Ben Collier of Trophy Drifters said.

Although the payoff can be rewarding, late season trout fishing is not always easy.

"Once you start figuring out how to catch these fish, it's awesome. But the guys that are really good at it know how to take care of them after you catch them, and that's super important," Collier said. "I had a client tell me the other day, we caught a big rainbow, and she said, 'oh my gosh, it's like you're having a baby!' I was like yeah, that's how you take care of them because you want other people to be able to catch that fish, too."
