UPDATE: Five people injured in propane explosion flown to Seattle for treatment

UPDATE:

Troopers have released the names of those injured in a propane explosion at a Fairbanks home on Sunday.

The victims are identified as Meadow Batejan, 21 of Pennsylvania, Colin Campbell, 27 of Tanana, Morganne Armstrong, 26 of Fairbanks, Ellen Weiser, 69 of Fairbanks, and David Weissman, 64 of Fairbanks.

All the victims were transported to a hospital in Seattle for further treatment of their injuries.

The state fire marshall's office is investigating what led to the explosion.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Five people were injured in a propane explosion at a residence on Rosie Creek Road in Fairbanks on Sunday. Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks were contacted about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Emergency services responded. Five people were taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Troopers report some of the injuries were “serious and potentially life-threatening.”

The cause of the explosion appears to be a propane leak, according to Troopers. The incident is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office. There was no fire associated with the explosion.
