Alaska State Troopers are investigating a fatal traffic collision in Wasilla.

Dallas Massie of Wasilla died after the two-vehicle crash Thursday evening at the intersection of Lamont Way and Tweed Circle.

Massie is a former trooper who served the department for 26 years, according the Alaska State Troopers.

“We offer our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this sad and difficult time,” said AST Director Colonel Barry Wilson on a Facebook post.

Troopers say 22-year-old Jacob Moreland was driving a pickup truck when his vehicle struck the driver's side of Massie's truck.

Troopers say both drivers were taken to a local hospital, but Massie did not survive his injuries.

In a press release, several lawmakers with the Alaska House Republicans expressed condolences.

Rep. David Eastman (R-Wasilla):

Editors note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Massie's wife was injured in the accident. Troopers confirm she was not in the vehicle at all. This article has been updated with those changes.
