is hosting its first-ever Gathering of Warbirds at the Wings of Freedom Hangar.
The event is to honor veterans and celebrate the upcoming Canada Day and Independence Day.
Watch the video above to get a sneak peek of what you’ll see at the event, along with some details about you could expect from Wing Leader Chris McKnight.
McKnight says an exciting development ahead of Saturday’s event is that the Commemorative Air Force is unveiling a new program.
“We've been given a grant by the airline pilots association that's going to allow us to fly youth. So ages 12 to 18 for free in our warbirds,” McKnight said, “Everybody talks about the shortage in the aviation world that's going on. And we want to do our part and share that passion and get kids interested.”
The rides given through the program will be short, McKnight says, but he adds they want to spark that fire and be a catalyst for kids to go out and be interested in aviation and become pilots, and mechanics.
