Iron Dog Race seeks new Executive Director
For the last seven years, Iron Dog Executive Director Kevin Kastner spent February chasing, organizing and directing the Iron Dog race, as it travels the state.
But as of Thursday, he's onto a new path. In a release, the board of the Iron Dog announced his resignation.
“The Board is thankful for Kevin’s years of service and leadership,” said Jim Wilke, President of the Board. “We are grateful for his many accomplishments. We wish him and his family the very best."
According to the release, Executive Director Kastner achieved record levels of sponsorships, racer participation, volunteers, statewide media coverage and national acclaim, while with the Iron Dog.

In announcing his resignation, Kastner said accepting a job in the Lower 48 will mean a move out of state.
"It was a tough decision to uproot (and) to pursue this great opportunity," said Kastner. "Iron Dog will always hold a special place in my heart and career. I’ve worked hard to build a blueprint for Iron Dog’s continued growth in the years to come. I sincerely wish them continued success."
The board says it has already begun the search for a new Executive Director.
The Iron Dog will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2018.
