Thursday, eight JROTC cadets from Dimond high school and and one cadet from South High School are flying to Normandy, France. They are headed to Normandy for the 74th anniversary of D-Day. The cadets are the only JROTC unit participating in the ceremonies.

Senior Army Instructor Sidney Topf will be traveling with the cadets. "My goal is to broaden the understanding of D-Day and the role American Soldiers played in this critical historical event," Topf said.

One cadet will also be placing a wreath at a cemetery in honor of his grandfather, who came ashore on Utah Beach.
