The Anchorage Fire Department says due to the extremely dry weather conditions in Anchorage, Eagle River, and surrounding areas, all fireworks shows are being canceled.

AFD is also reminding people that the city’s

is still in effect.

And if you are thinking of throwing your own fireworks show, think again.

AFD says it’s against the law to knowingly sell, have, or use any fireworks or stench bombs without city officials' permission. If you are caught breaking the law, you can be fined $300.

AFD does clarify that residents will not be fined for having or using a highway or other warning flares, or ammunition for firearms unless they are being used for other than their intended purposes.
