After less than 24 hours of deliberations, an Anchorage jury has found two men guilty for the 2014 shooting death of a 15-year-old girl.

On Friday, the jury convicted 32-year-old Lammar Burney and 28-year-old Jamal Townsend of first-degree murder for the death of Precious Alex. Alex was fatally shot while she slept in a Mountain View home, back in 2014.

Both Burney and Townsend were also convicted of second-degree assault for injuring a second person, during the shooting, and second-degree weapons misconduct.

According to prosecutors, on the night of March 31, 2014, six gunshots struck the bedroom window of an apartment on North Flower Street. Two shots struck 15 year-old Precious Alex, killing her. Another shot struck a second victim in the foot.

Superior Court Judge Jack Smith will sentence the defendants on March 21, 2018. A conviction for a first-degree murder charge carries a sentence range of 20 to 99 years.
