Large showing for first of two public testimony sessions with Anchorage Caucus
The Anchorage School District's Educational Center wasn't large enough for a crowd of local voters to fit into the room where public testimony took place Saturday, in front of members of the Anchorage Caucus.
Anchorage's senators and state representatives heard from the public about their concerns with healthcare, education and jobs in Alaska- just to name a few of the more popular topics; however, Gov. Mike Dunleavy's proposed cuts to the state budget took up most of the time during the public testimony period.
Afterward, the caucus broke up into groups designated by district to answer questions from their constituents more thoroughly.
This was the first of two meetings in which the public will be able to voice their opinions to local legislators. The next opportunity will take place on March 2nd at the ASD Education Center on Northern Lights Boulevard, beginning at 2 p.m.
