Local pizzerias serve up their tastiest pies at inaugural Crustfest
Pineapple or no Pineapple? It's a never-ending debate, and it was heavily discussed at Anchorage's first pizza festival.
The inaugural Crustfest kicked off Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center. Anchorage's local pizzerias were serving up slices of their tastiest pies, along with beer from local breweries and live entertainment.
The event also served as a fundraiser for Food Bank of Alaska, which is gearing up for the holidays.
"We know the heat bill goes up, the electric bill goes up, car bills in the winter time, so we're just there to make sure they have enough food to pay for those essentials, and so we're there with our 40 partner agencies across Anchorage and the valley to provide them with the food they need for a healthy active life," said Jenny Digrappa, with Food Bank of Alaska.
Event organizers say the Crustfest 2019 was a success, and that they will be bringing it back next year.
