A man was shot in the upper body in midtown Anchorage, and police are now looking for the suspected shooter.

Just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, a report of shots being fired was called in, according to a statement issued by the Anchorage Police Department.

APD reported that the shooting took place in the parking lot of the McDonald’s at 800 West Northern Lights Boulevard.

Patrol officers found a man in an apartment building with a gunshot wound, which was described as non-life-threatening after being transported to the hospital.

He was found across the street from the McDonald's, in a second floor apartment.

According to APD, it's not yet known whether the victim struck was an unintended victim or an intended target. Multiple gunshots were reported in the McDonald's shooting.

"Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect or suspects involved in this investigation," APD wrote in a release.
