Anchorage police are locked in an armed standoff with a 69-year-old man who has shot and injured two officers today. The encounter began Wednesday morning when the man shot at tree-trimmers near his Ginami Street home, according to police.
Police identified the man as Robert Musser. He has refused to leave the home for more than 24 hours despite police use of tear gas.
In the video above, Derrick Braecht said he has lived next to Musser for 13 years and generally found him to be a friendly neighbor. The man's dog recently died, Braecht said, and gunshots have been heard at the home before.
A police spokeswoman said police believe Musser is a Vietnam veteran.
