One person injured after assault in downtown Anchorage

A man has been taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after an assault in downtown.

Police say the assault took place on the 700 block of East 11th Avenue.

According to Lt. John Nolder, two family members got into a fight, and a gun and a knife were out during the altercation.

The victim was injured by the knife. Police say the gun was not used.

Police have the other family member, a man, in custody and say there is "no ongoing danger to the community."
