A close-up encounter with a pod of orca whales in Icy Strait

It was a beautiful evening on the waters of Icy Strait, and a pod of orcas surfaces seemingly in formation. James Jack of Hoonah took this video. You can hear the sound of them exhaling as they go on their way.

Southeast Alaska is enjoying the effects of high pressure, sunny and calm out there on the water. James Jack says it was great to see the orca whales, but the fishing for the humans wasn't so great...and he figures this pod had a lot to do with that situation.
