EasyPark launched its pilot program targeting turnover in short term parking in downtown Anchorage Saturday.
The group says parking is still free on weekends but its going to be enforcing the two hour limit in designated areas as part of the program until September 17th.
According to its website, for the month of July, warning tickets will be issued as a first step to increasing turnover in the designated 2-hour parking spots.
EasyPark said in a news release, previous data collected revealed one out of every three spaces was being occupied by all day parkers — potentially costing retailers about 60 percent in possible Saturday sales.
