Law enforcement in Juneau have identified the man who was found dead on the downtown shore in Juneau on Thursday.
Joshua Raymond Jones, 24, is confirmed to have been found dead after a worker at the docks downtown discovered his lifeless body.
JPD said that at some point, Jones' body had been in the water for some time, but was found on land near the tideline. In a statement, police said, "There were no signs of physical trauma to Jones’ body and the cause of death is unknown at this time."
The cause of Jones’ death is not yet known. Police have sent his body to the Alaska State Medical Examiners office for an autopsy.
Officers remained on scene Thursday afternoon, after a dead body was found at the docks in downtown Juneau.
The victim has been identified; however, Juneau police are not releasing his name, as they are still working on notifying his family.
He has been described as a 24-year-old dark skinned male. Police could not say how the victim died.
While his body was found on the rocks, Sergeant Krag Campbell with JPD added that it appears as though the victim's body was previously in the water for some time, as it was waterlogged.
The body was discovered just before 10 a.m. on Nov. 9. No witnesses in the surrounding area have reported seeing anything suspicious.
