Police search for two groups seen 'driving around and shooting at each other'
Residents at an East side apartment building got a rude awakening early Tuesday in the form of gunfire.
In a community message, Anchorage police said that they received multiple reports of gunshots from apartment residents on the 7800 block of Creekside Center Drive in Anchorage.
The calls came in at around 4:20 in the morning, police said, while many residents would be sleeping.
Officers who arrived on the scene reported multiple buildings and vehicles were found damaged with bullet holes, after investigators say "a group of people in two vehicles were driving around and shooting at each other."
Police found several shell casings and bullet fragments in the area.
No one was injured during the shooting, police said. It is not yet known if anyone in the two involved cars were shot, but they had not filed reports or arrived at nearby hospitals as of Tuesday morning.
Police said no one has been arrested so far in the investigation, and that "no suspect or vehicle descriptions are being released at this time."
However, authorities are asking for help from witnesses in identifying the people or vehicles involved in the shooting.
