Anchorage is getting a new chicken franchise. The Raising Cane's franchise is currently made up of 433 locations, across 6 countries and 27 states, and Alaska is the most recent state to see a new franchise.

The new spot at Tikahtnu Commons opened its doors on Tuesday, but the ties between Raising Cane's and the last frontier begin back in the mid 90s.

The restaurant's founder and CEO, Todd Graves, came to Alaska in 1995 to work on a salmon boat in Naknek. He eventually took the money he'd saved from his time in Alaska and opened the first ever Raising Cane's back in his home state of Louisiana.

Graves utilized a partnership with the company behind the Panda Express franchise to make his first Alaska-based restaurant a reality.

A company spokesman told KTUU that there are plans in the works to expand within the state, but no exact details were given.
