Ravn Alaska hosts Women in Aviation Day

On Sunday, Ravn Alaska hosted its Women in Aviation Day. The day was to encourage women to learn about career paths available in the aviation industry.

"I think if we think back to what a traditional women's job is typically it has not been in aviation and then if you take that a step further generally aviation in Alaska there is a lot of manual labor tagged along with those job duties," Erin Witt, Hageland Aviation Chief Pilot said.

"Which means it has lead to having fewer women tackle the aviation jobs than men, she said.

Witt said, There is a worldwide shortage of pilots and mechanics.
