One man was shot in Anchorage early Tuesday morning, and officials investigating the situation are still trying to determine what exactly happened and how.

According to MJ Thim, spokesperson for APD, the call came in to 911 from the victim himself. He has not been identified yet by name.

APD reported in a community alert that the man had been involved with another person, in an "altercation" behind the Black Angus Inn on Gambell street. The suspect then shot the victim and left the area.

No details of the suspect, such as appearance and clothing, were released by APD.

The victim reportedly said he had been shot and was in need of assistance in the area of East 13th Avenue and Gambell Street.

He was picked up and taken to the hospital for his injuries which were described as being non-life threatening by APD.

The investigation into what happened to the man will continue, APD said. In the meantime, officers with the patrol division shut down a portion of Fairbanks Street between 14th and 15th Avenue. The roads were reopened shortly later.
